Why I Love Jazz Music

Music is my only "place of solace". Every time i feel down and out, i listen to music. I get the same soothing and peaceful feeling when i hear music particularly Jazz. It's been this way since i was a teenager. Thank God for technological wonders of MP3 players, i could bring along my "place of solace" anywhere i go.

I was in my place of solace the other night when a thought came to me, why did i like jazz? Then a train of words came to mind, GARRARD- STANDARD- TEAC. An audiophile (someone who is into sophisticated sound system) in the early 70's would know the significance of these terms.. Garrard is a top-of-the-line turntable (a record-player), Standard a high-end stereo amplifier/ FM radio, and TEAC a pretty good japanese cassette-tape recorder/player. This was the sound system in my home during the time i was growing up. There were only a few (5, i think) FM stations during that time. Almost all of it played only 'standards'. On weekends, i would hear Jazz....

I guess the love for music runs in the family, Mama plays the piano, Papa was the audiophile (and a good dancer too!). My kids are into it too. Ripples is the dancer, Enzo the guitar player and Eric the drummer. Ta2, at the age of 3 is singing (although the lyrics sounds like martian!).

Thank you Papa for a gift of a lifetime... Jazz....
